Spring in Houston has been a busy time for The Steve Francis Foundation. We have been focusing on education with a visit to see the Sunflower County Freedom Project’s play, attending the Texas Tribune’s On the Road Symposium, and helping our scholars with financial aid education.

Jessica Rivas is expanding her horizons both in the classroom and around the world. Our 2006 Recipient is attending Texas A&M University and majoring in Electronic Engineering Technology. During school breaks, Jessica has traveled to South American countries to broaden her mind, challenge herself, gain experiences, and improve the life of others.

The Steve Francis Foundation’s Scholarship Application deadline is approaching! It is required that all candidates applying for the $10,000 scholarship must complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). In order to help students gain a better understanding of how to best obtain the maximum amount of grants (free money) and other types of financial aid, we hosted a Financial Aid Workshop on February 19^th from 6:00PM to 7:15PM at the University of St. Thomas.
