TAKOMA PARK, MD-- Steve Francis returned to his hometown Takoma Park, Maryland on Saturday, August 18th to celebrate the beginning of a new school year by distributing school supplies and hosting a basketball clinic. The event was held at Takoma Piney-Branch Park, which was recently renovated dramatically due to a partnership between The Steve Francis Foundation and Montgomery County.

Miles Dotson graduated in December of 2011 from The University of Miami in Florida. Miles was awarded the Brenda Wilson Scholarship in 2007 after his graduation from Pearland High School. Growing up, he was an active volunteer at the Holthouse Boys and Girls Club, tutoring and teaching basketball. Through the Foundation’s support, he recently graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering, specializing in Audio Engineering.

TAKOMA PARK, MD--As students prepare to head back to the classroom, NBA All-Star Steve Francis is returning home for the Steve Francis Foundation Back to School Celebration and Basketball Clinic.
Francis grew up in Takoma Park and recently donated $70,000 to the Takoma-Piney Branch Local Park for major improvements including a new basketball court featuring six basketball goals, two playgrounds, a skateboard park and a picnic pavilion. The Back to School Celebration and Basketball Clinic will take place in the same park and give local students and parents a chance to fully enjoy it before returning to school.

READING, PA--Sylvester Ogbonda, a current DC Warriors player, stood out among the best at this year's Hoop Group Future All American Camp.
Dozens of young athletes made their way to Albright College for this year's Hoop Group Future All-American Camp where elite rising sophomores and freshmen come to hone their skills. Emerging as one of the top performers was Sylvestor Ogbonda, a 6-foot-11 prospect for the Class of 2015. Ogbonda is originally from Nigeria and has only been in the United States for less than a year.

Steve Francis Foundation Scholarship Celebration is a Success.
The annual Steve Francis Foundation Scholarship Celebration, a program named in honor of Steve’s mother Brenda Wilson, took place on June 20th at the Embassy Suites Downtown Houston. At the Hawaiian Luau themed celebration, which began with a poolside reception, we introduced three new recipients and congratulated two recent graduates who earned their college degrees.
